Representatives of Sistemas Tecnologia demonstrate Digifort to the Governor

The state Public Security and Tourism Boards stations were visited Friday (8th) morning by Governor Jaques Wagner alongside the secretary of Public Security, Maurício Barbosa, commander general of the Military Police, Colonel Alfredo Castro, and the delegate general of the Civil Police, Hélio Jorge.  He observed the operations at the Carnival Strategic Information Center (CIIEC) and at the Military Police’s surveillance center in Ondina (Sabino Silva Avenue).  Next, the group was received by the secretary of Tourism, Domingos Leonelli, at Comércio, where he visited the Bahiatursa call center, which was set up at the Salvador Nautical Center (across from the Model Market).

The CIIEC brings together representatives from 22 municipal, state and federal agencies who work in shifts to optimize the services to the population with information from all areas (security, health and civil defense). “When data is consolidated, we automatically have more efficiency and speed in providing services”, pointed out the commander general of the Military Police.

.

The goal is to speed up the implementation of measures, such as the dispatching of police units and ambulances.  Furthermore, the center also has a surveillance center that receives images from the 95 video cameras installed throughout the Carnival circuits and at other areas in Salvador.  “The events are immediately dealt with, and with all the agencies at hand it becomes much easier to solve problems”, says the secretary of Public Security.

Bahia’s government invests R$ 32 million to ensure Carnival’s security.  A total of 24 thousand police officers were deployed, among them military and civil, as well as experts from the Department of Technical Police (DPT).  “This is the guarantee that everyone coming to our Carnival will be able to enjoy our music and our dance without being concerned with their security”, stated Wagner.

The Bahiatursa call center operates 24 hours a day during Carnival.  Erected at the Salvador Nautical Center, the center provides tourist services by telephone or on-line chat.  Besides Portuguese, the professionals from the Carnival Guides and Monitors project provide services in 12 other languages, among them English, Spanish, French, Mandarin, Japanese and Russian.  “The visitor from abroad feels safer and better informed, what is fundamental for any good tourist host city”, says Leonelli.  Tourists can also find guidance at our information centers on the Carnival circuits and places like the airport, port and bus station in Salvador.

Several agencies use Digifort at surveillances stations

For the first time in the Bahia Carnival, the tourist from Rio de Janeiro, Janaina Marques, needed information on the schedules of the vessels making the crossing between Salvador and the Baía de Todos-os-Santos (All Saints’ Bay) isles and approved the services provided by the tour guides.  “For those who do not know the region, like me, who is visiting here for the first time, it is very important to have this assistance”.

.

Carlos Eduardo Bonilha, Digifort’s executive director, speaks about the importance of the project, developed with local integrators and government agencies. “Our software has many success stories in crowd control.  Bahia has one of the biggest carnivals in Brazil, where crowd concentration on public roads is very large.  The project is important in this regard, since the city of Salvador is one of the host cities of the 2014 World Cup of Soccer, receiving visitors from all over the world.  Our partner, Sistema Tecnologia, was also fundamental in the implementation of Digifort in the Bahia Carnival circuits.  Together, we are ready to meet the future technological demands of Bahia.
