Stadium surroundings will be monitored by the new system

As the training facility for national soccer teams during the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, Arena Independência will now count with a state of the art video-surveillance system in its surroundings, equipped with HD equipment from Axis Communications, and Digifort software. The project adopted by the Social Defense Board of Minas Gerais has 18 cameras equipped with Axis technology and a modern digital image monitoring center. With these resources, at the 16th Military Police Battalion of Belo Horizonte/MG, trained agents will be able to monitor insecurity incidents from a distance and dispatch, in real time, police officers who are close or near the stadium.

.

“By adopting the use of HDTV-quality cameras, the Military Police will now have access to more visual information to help in identifying suspects and taking preventive actions in intelligence actions. This greater visualization capacity, with 18x optical and 12x digital zooms, will provide the population with a high-quality tool to aid in preventing crimes and reducing violence”, states Alexandre Mori, national sales manager for Axis Communications.

.

Developed by Experti, the project comprises 18 AXIS Q6034-E Network Cameras, responsible for urban monitoring, whose images are received in real time at the surveillance center. With HDTV 720p quality, day/night functions and ready to face adverse temperature situations, the model can automatically move to a set position with movement detection in a pre-established area and track the detected object. Furthermore, it allows for easy configuration of an automatic guard movement, by means of a device such as a joystick to record the operator’s pan/tilt/zoom movements and the time at each point of interest.

The surveillance center was installed at the MP battalion

This guard movement can be activated by means of a button or preset time. All cameras are managed by resources facilities and module by Digifort, an Axis software partner. “In this project, we have used the best there is in IP surveillance, digital image capture and storage. Alongside Experti and Axis, Digifort has prepared the stadium surroundings to be one of the best monitored places in Brazil, due to the new demands from Brazilian soccer. The complex is an official training and support center for the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup of Soccer. Afterwards, an excellent legacy will be left for the sports in Minas Gerais”, anticipates Carlos Eduardo Bonilha, Digifort’s executive director.

.

For this project, Experti has made available the first HD cameras to the Minas Gerais Military Police. Other models had been installed in 2004. Since then, new sets of cameras have been integrated to the system to widen its coverage area. “Our focus is in the cities. The video-surveillance projects have warmed-up, especially since the statistics on violence reduction have shown the efficiency of cameras. The drop in the number of crimes in Minas Gerais is an average 30% higher in those areas being monitored by cameras. Additionally, the preparations for the World Cup of Soccer have also accelerated this trend”, explains Luiz César Lemos, the company’s commercial director.
