Digifort – The First Brazilian IP Surveillance Software – positions itself as the main electronic surveillance system in favor of security in Brazilian cities. Soon after registering yet another success case, in the project developed for DER – Departamento de Estradas e Rodagem (Highway Department) at the Federal District (watch it here), the software was also featured on TV Anhanguera’s programming, this station being an affiliated broadcaster to Rede Globo in Brazil’s central region.  Broadcasted on the “Bom Dia Goiás” newscast, the news article showed the Military Police’s work methodology and the benefits that Digifort’s technology is offering towards monitoring the urban perimeter as well as the commercial areas at the city of Rio Verde/GO.

Presented by Muriele Silva (reporter), the news article showed the operations at the city’s surveillance centre, how police authorities operate the Digifort system and interviewed local shopkeepers. Marluce Rodrigues, a merchant, said that businesspeople are relieved and that the police will be able to act quickly when faced with an emergency. “We were scared, but the new surveillance system will help and the businesses will be safer”. The president of the Clube dos Dirigentes Logistas – CDL (Shopkeepers Directory Club) of Rio Verde also stressed the importance of the project. “For eight years we have been fighting to bring this technology to our city. It came in good time”, celebrated Ferando Jayme.

The system is equipped with 30 cameras, operating 24 hours per day by security agents. They work in 12-hour shifts, with four policemen available at each shift. Spread throughout the central region, neighborhoods, at the city’s entries and exits, the equipment features cutting-edge technology in both hardware and Digifort software. Lieutenant Wilmar Rubens, commander of the Rio Verde’s Military Police, talks a bit about this work. “When we register a vehicle theft, our operators are able to block the city’s cloverleaf interchanges and intercept the criminals using the cameras. Suspects near banks and drug users in public squares have also been registered by the images at our centre”.
